This guide offers basic help for using various citation management systems in addition to answering frequently asked questions and providing NYU-specific information.

About RefWorks

RefWorks is available to the NYU community. It is a web-based program you can use to organize your research. RefWorks bibliographies are stored on the RefWorks server and are available from any computer with Internet access

Set-up RefWorks

1. Go to the RefWorks log-in page, and click on the "create an account" link at the bottom of the page and then create an account using your Institutional Email, but with any password you would like (Refworks is not connected to your KID or NetID password)

2. Cite References in your word processer:

Write-N-Cite allows you to cite references in Word from your RefWorks account with just a few clicks. With Write-N-Cite you can choose from thousands of bibliography styles and watch as it instantly formats your in-text citations, footnotes and bibliography.

3. Save references from the web:

Save to RefWorks is an optional feature for capturing bibliographic information from web pages. It is available as a bookmarklet that works with your browser.
