AI Tools at NYU Langone Health

  • NYU AI Studio is secure and HIPAA compliant.
  • copilot.microsoft.com is secure but is NOT HIPAA compliant, provided you login with your Kerberos ID in the upper right corner. This means that you can use private or proprietary information with copilot if you login with your kerberos, but it cannot be used with HIPAA protected information at any point.
  • Prompt Exchange is a place for sharing prompts with the community and finding new ways to prompt AI systems.
  • Additional notes - NYU AI Studio: is the current name for the former Azure and NYUGPT (gpt.prod1.nyumc.org) or NYU Langone Health GPT.
    - Copilot Studio: is a service to which NYU Langone subscribes where users can build chat bots (called copilots, confusingly). Think of Copilot Studio as a space like Adobe Dreamweaver where you can build tools without the need for coding.
    - Bing Copilot: used to be called Bing Chat, and you can login with a KID and enter private but not HIPAA information.
    - For HIPAA compliance use only AI Studio.

Literature Discovery Tools

The list below describes popular tools that use AI to help with basic information discovery through topic and citation exploration. Note that this list does not reflect library subscriptions and that these resources are not intended for comprehensive or exhaustive searches. For more comprehensive projects such as systematic reviews, please refer to our guide for additional resources.

Important Notice: Choosing the Right Tool for Literature Searches

When conducting literature searches, ensure reliability and credibility by using accurate sources. Acknowledge potential limitations of AI-based platforms like ChatGPT, which may generate responses with hallucinated or nonexistent material, especially in academic or research contexts. Consider the following guidelines to address these concerns effectively:

  • Choose Reliable Tools: Opt for specialized literature searching apps like Scite.ai and Perplexity for accurate and credible information retrieval.
  • Avoid Risks: Minimize the chance of encountering erroneous or misleading content by steering clear of AI-based platforms like ChatGPT for literature searches.
  • Enhance Credibility: Utilize platforms that source information from credible scholarly literature to ensure the reliability of search results and maintain academic integrity.
