PICO and the Clinical Question
Before starting your literature search, be sure to get organized using the PICO framework to generate your clinical question.
Example: When providing an overview on micronutrient deficiencies within a global context, Powell and Butterly emphasize the importance of supplementation of Zinc and other micronutrients in preventing severe disability and possible death. You begin wondering if this information is of value in your population.
Clinical question: In children with zinc deficiency, how effective is zinc supplementation in improving growth and decreasing infection rates?
